Sumy city territorial community was created on 25.04.2019 as part of Sumy city and 6 attached settlements of the Pishchan village council (the villages of Pishchane, Verkhne Pishchane, Zhyteiske, Zahirske, Kiriyakivshchyna, Trokhymenkovo). Sumy city is the administrative center of the community, located in the north-eastern part of Ukraine. Sumy city is one of the large cities of Ukraine, it is a city of regional importance and the administrative center of Sumy region (the area of the region is 23.8 thousand km², according to this indicator it ranks 13th among other regions of Ukraine).
