The Independent Association of the Banks of Ukraine (IABU)

The Independent Association of the Banks of Ukraine (IABU)
The Independent Association of the Banks of Ukraine is a powerful and effective representative of the banking system, a reliable partner for state and government institutions.

In their work members contribute to the development of a high quality banking system characterized by its stability, which is based on the reliability of each of its components. The success of each bank depends on the success of the whole system. Only the harmonious development of the whole system can provide joint growth. Every bank, regardless of its size, ownership and origin of capital, performs a unique function within the banking system. The priority of the banks’ needs cannot be based on their size, ownership and origin of capital. The key to sustainable development of the banking system is healthy competition. Unfair competition is condemned.

NABU MEMBERS STAND UNITED ON THE FOLLOWING VALUES

Responsibility.
Large banks are interested in the success of small banks just as much as small banks are interested in the success of large banks. Banks with foreign capital are interested in the success of banks with Ukrainian capital just as banks with Ukrainian capital are interested in the success of banks with foreign capital. The banking community should have an active balanced position on each issue of government regulation (regardless of its impact on the interests of all or a number of banks). A passive position is inadmissible.

Equality.
Any restrictions on banking operations in Ukraine can be based solely on national interests and should never be administered for the benefit of a single bank or a group of banks.

Professionalism.
The professionalism and integrity of every banker in his interaction with the client is the key to the high authority of the entire banking system in Ukraine. The banking community provides the mechanisms for its maintenance. In its activity the Association uses the experience and knowledge of its best representatives.

Transparency.
The Association in its work is guided by principles of transparency. It provides an independent audit of activities and reports to its members.

Performance
.
In its activities the Association concentrates on priority tasks facing the banking system. It provides management rotation, control over resources and a mechanism for rapid conflict resolution.
