Rating agency IBI-Rating announced results of « Corporate governance in banks of Ukraine 2016» survey

During March-April 2016 Rating agency IBI-Rating carried out the survey of corporate governance in commercial banks of Ukraine.

For the survey 111 commercial banks were selected, which were operational as at the beginning of 2Q 2016. Within the framework of the survey an analysis was carried out of 3-year publicly available internal documents of 103 institutions, as well as documents of 7 banks that had operated less than this period and were solvent at the current moment. Also, the activity of one institution, which was recognized as insolvent in 2Q 2016, was analyzed.

The survey was conducted in the following areas as:
  • Protection of shareholder rights
  • Supervisory Board
  • Management, audit and control
  • Information, disclosure and transparency
  • Own initiatives and interaction with the regulator

The main objective of the survey was to determine the current level of corporate governance and drawbacks of Ukrainian banks in terms of making investment decisions. The rating evaluation of corporate governance was conducted in accordance with «Methodologies for evaluation of corporate governance of business entities (public joint-stock companies) on the basis of publicly available information».

Results of the survey were announced on 27 April 2016 at the International Conference «Investment attractiveness and prospects of the Ukrainian banking system in the context of the European integration», which was held in «PANORAMA-HALL» conference complex, «CUBIC» BC.

It should also be noted that IBI-Rating Rating Agency will participate in the III International Forum of Corporate Secretaries «Corporate Ukraine: Achievements, Challenges, plans», organized by Corporate Governance Professional Association (CGPA) and the International Financial Corporation (IFC), to take place on 3 June 2016.
